The first film of the four film "Steeds Reads at the Library"
series will be held on Monday, January 24. The Horse Boy
follows one Texas couple and their autistic son as they trek on horseback through Outer Mongolia in an attempt to find healing for their son. All the Pretty Horses
will be shown on Monday, February 28 and shares the story of John Grady Cole as he travels to Mexico on horseback; this film is based on the first book of the Border Trilogy by Cormac McCarthy. The classic, Black Beauty
will be shown on Monday, March 28. This film tells the story of a remarkable horse and the various owners whose lives he transforms. Black Beauty is based on Anna Sewell's book and is told through the point of view of the horse. Secretariat
is the film planned for Monday, April 18.
Deane Tucker, professor of Humanities at Chadron State College will lead the film series. A light meal will be served with each film at 6 p.m. and discussion will follow.
