"Smoke Signals" will be shown the library on Wednesday, February 28 at 6 p.m. "Smoke Signals" features Thomas, a skinny, toothsome kid wearing oversized glasses and plaid shirts under three-piece suits and Victor who is a brooding loner. These Coeur d'Alene Indians trek from their Idaho reservation to Phoenix to retrieve the ashes of Victor's estranged father. Based on Sherman Alexie's "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven," this is the first film written, directed, and acted completely by American Indians, this film addresses several social issues and is part of the "Snapshots on Society" series. A light meal will be served and discussion will include inmates at the Wyoming Women's Center. Plan now to attend.
34 children braved the very cold temperatures on Wednesday, February 14 to attend RIF. Students with the FLBA presented a skit and helped with the Friends of the Library with crafts. Everyone was able to select their very own book to take home as well. The next RIF program will be on Wednesday, March 14.
