Michael Czarnecki kicked off our fall programming season with a Brown Bag Lunch program last week. A small audience enjoyed hearing about his travels on Route 20.

Have you had a chance to see our newsletter yet? There is a variety of events at the library this fall and we wanted to showcase everything so you would have the opportunity to participate. The calendar is included to help you remember when everything will be held. If you have ideas about programs you would like to see at the library please let us know!

Rattlesnake Jake will be at the library on Wednesday, August 29 at 6:30. This RIF program is suitable for children of all ages. For more information contact the library.

It's time to start registering your children for the fall series of Afterschool Programs! Yvonne has all kinds of activities and crafts lined out for children based on the 'Boxcar Children' series by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Each Tuesday, September 4 through October 23 the program will be tailored to children in the first and second grades and Thursdays, September 6 through October 25 the program will be geared towards children in the third through fifth grades.

New on the fiction shelf is "Raven Springs"" by John D. Nesbitt, "The Third Secret" "by Steve Berry, "Blaze" by Richard Bachman, "Facets"" by Barbara Delinsky and "Sophie's Dilemma" by Lauraine Snelling. "Innocent as Sin" by Elizabeth Lowell is also available, in this suspense novel protagonist Rand McCree finds himself in despair as the mysterious figure responsible for the murder of his identical twin hasn't been found. He finds himself assisting a rich socialite with an art exhibition that has inadvertently entangled her in a money laundering operation, how will these threads all tie together? Young adults will enjoy "Dance with the Vampire," a new installment in Ellen Schreiber's series.

New non-fiction books are "Anchored in Love: an Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash" by John Carter Cash, "Mind Over Matter: the Key to Lasting Weight Loss is All in Your Head" by Nordine Zouaret and "Memorabilia Quilts: Fabulous Projects with Keepsakes and Collectables" by Linda Causee.

The "Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library" has several new children's books, including "Wenny has Wings" by Janet Lee Carey, "Mud City" by Deborah Ellis, "The Broken Bike Boy and the Queen of 33rd Street" by Sharon G. Flake. "Olive's First Sleepover" by Roberta Blake, "Too Many Leprechauns or How That Pot O' Gold Got to the End of the Rainbow" by Stephen Krensky and "Paul Bunyan's Sweetheart" by Marybeth Lorbiecki are in for younger readers.

"ABC's and 123's!" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 and Thursday, August 31, 2007. Storyhour is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.

After 24 years we are able to begin binding The Lusk Herald newspapers again, we are missing some issues in the time period of 1984 through 2003, if you happen to have any issues in this range and would consider donating them please stop by.
