Long-time Niobrara County resident, Don West will be at the library on Sunday, March 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. to sign copies of his book “Rawhide.” "Rawhide is the story of two young men who left Ohio on a great adventure - a trip west on the fabled Oregon Trail. But, hard work and long hours weren’t enough to overcome the treachery they found waiting for them in the Dakota Territory. This is Don’s first novel, be sure to stop by.

The third of three RIF programs will be held on Wednesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. Plan now to bring your children and enjoy a fun puppet show about the transcontinental railroad.

“Sunrise” by Karen Kingsbury is new in the adult library. Dayne Matthews and his fiancée, Katy Hart, are trying to keep their wedding out of the press, but in the end it will take the help of the Baxter family and the CTK kids to pull it off.

Other fiction titles include “Dead Giveaway” by Brenda Novak, “The Killing Ground” by Jack Higgins, “7th Heaven” by James Patterson, “Almost Dead” by Lisa Jackson and “Firefly Lane” by Kristin Hannah.

New adult non-fiction books are “Liberal Fascism: the Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning” by Jonah Goldberg, “Thrillcraft: the Environmental Consequences of Motorized Recreation” edited by George Wuerthner and “Choices in Breast Cancer Treatment: Medical Specialists and Cancer Survivors Tell You What You Need to Know” edited by Kenneth D. Miller.

A new young adult book is “The White Darkness” by Geraldine McCaughrean.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new chapter books: “Secrets and Super Sneaks” by Steven Peterman, “Truth or Dare” by M. C. King, “Crush-Tastic” by Beth Beechwood and “The Magic Hat” by Annie Barrows. New picture books are “Henry’s Freedom Box” by Ellen Levine, “First the Egg” by Laura Vaccaro Seeger, “One Snowy Night” by M. Christina Butler and “My Secret Bully” by Trudy Ludwig.

“April Showers!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 and Thursday, April 3, 2008. Storyhour is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
