Wyoming Reads Program at the library May 13!

The library will be closed on Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. Summer hours are also now in effect through Labor Day. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Noon until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

“Catch the Reading Bug!” is the theme for the 2008 Summer Reading program. Registration begins Tuesday, May 27 and continues through June 3. Children that have completed the first through fifth grades are eligible to participate in this fun weekly program. Sessions will be held each Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. beginning June 4 and continue through July 9. A special program will be presented on Tuesday, July 8 with the puppet show, “The Dragon and the Doodle Bug” performed by professional puppeteer, Markie Sholz. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Stop by the library or call, 334-3490 to register your children.

A new fiction book for adults is “Hokus Pokus” by Fern Michaels. The Sisterhood foiled former FBI director Mitch Riley’s plot to frame their friends, Judge Nellie Easter and lawyer Lizzie Fox. Now they must remain in exile or risk capture.

Other new fiction books are “Olive Kitteridge” by Elizabeth Strout, “A Perfect Revenge” by Annabel Dilke, “Winter Study” by Nevada Barr, “Buckingham Palace Gardens” by Anne Perry and “The Winding Ways Quilt” by Jennifer Chiaverini.

New adult non-fiction books are “Home: a Memoir of My Early Years” by Julie Andrews, “The Garden Primer” by Barbara Damrosch and “Have a New Kid By Friday: How to Change Your Child’s Attitude, Behavior, & Character in 5 Days” by Dr. Kevin Leman.

A new young adult book is “The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks” by E. Lockhart.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new easy titles “Eco Babies Wear Green” by Michelle Sinclair Coleman, “Kersplatypus” by Susan K. Mitchell, “Trouble Talk” by Trudy Ludwig, “Big and Bad” by Etienne Delessert and “The Pigeon Wants a Puppy” by Mo Willems.

“Snakessss" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 and Thursday, May 29, 2008. Storyhour is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year.

After 24 years we are able to begin binding The Lusk Herald newspapers again, we are missing some issues in the time period of 1984 through 1994, if you happen to have any issues in this range and would consider donating them please stop by.
