The library will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2008 for Independence Day, regular hours resume on Monday.

If you haven’t secured your seat in the 4th Annual Texas Hold’em tournament be sure to do so soon. There is only room for the first 50 paid players. Proceeds benefit the Niobrara County Library Foundation’s endowment fund.

On behalf of the Friends of the Library, thank you! Everyone who donated to the Annual Book Sale and the Ice Cream Social is appreciated and valued.

It’s a puppet show at the library! “The Dragon and the Doodle Bug” will be presented on Tuesday, July 8 at 1:30 p.m. – Plan to attend!

“Meet the Robinsons” will be shown on Thursday, July 10 at 1 p.m. This Disney film is rated G and is 95 minutes.

A new fiction book for adults is “Shadow Command” by Dale Brown. Patrick McLanahan is determined to secure not only America’s honor around the World but also his belief in a space-based military defense-at all costs-even his death.

Other new fiction books are “Days of Infamy” by Newt Gingrich, “The Host” by Stephenie Meyer, “The Steel Wave” by Jeff Shaara, “Executive Privilege” by Phillip Margolin and “Bright Shiny Morning” by James Frey.

New adult non-fiction books are “Gifts of Passage: What the Dying Tell us With the Gifts They Leave Behind” by Amy Hollingsworth, “The South Beach Diet Supercharged: Faster Weight Loss and Better Health for Life” Arthur Agatson, M. D. and “The Billionaire’s Vinegar: the Mystery of the World’s Most Expensive Bottle of Wine” by Benjamin Wallace.

A new young adult book is “Kandide and the Secret of the Mists” by Diana S. Zimmerman.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books: “Disappearing Acts” by Betsy Byars and “A Thief in the Theater” by Sarah Masters Buckley. New easy titles are “Brady Flies a Kite” by Maureen Butterfly and “Playful Little Penguins” by Tony Mitton.

“Indians" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 and Thursday, July 10, 2008. Storyhour is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year.

After 24 years we are able to begin binding The Lusk Herald newspapers again, we are missing some issues in the time period of 1984 through 1994, if you happen to have any issues in this range and would consider donating them please stop by.
