Monday, October 27 “Double Indemnity” will be shown at the library. This is the 2nd movie in the Film Noir series and the evening will feature a light meal and discussion. Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray star in this gripping film noir from Academy Award winning director Billy Wilder. The film is 108 minutes and begins at 6 p.m.

Many new educational and instructional DVD’s for children and adults are now available for circulation at the library. These check out for two weeks. Music cd’s are also available for circulation. Be sure to stop in and check them out!

A new fiction book for adults is “Silks” by Dick Francis. Defense lawyer Geoffrey Mason’s true passion is the steeple chase and he competes as an amateur jockey. When a fellow rider is murdered, he finds himself at the center of a web of violence, threats and intimidation.

Other new fiction books are “Homecoming” by Jill Marie Landis, “Devil Bones” by Kathy Reichs, “Cold in Hand” by John Harvey, “Woman of a Thousand Secrets” by Barbara Wood and “The Laughter of Dead Kings” by Elizabeth Peters.

New adult non-fiction books are “The Happiest Toddler on the Block: How to Eliminate Tantrums and Raise a Patient, Respectful and Cooperative One-To-Four Year Old” by Harvey Karp, M.D., “Bob Schieffer’s America” by Bob Shieffer and “Money and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Wealth, Health, and Happiness” by Esther Hicks.

New young adult books are “Identical” by Ellen Hopkins and “Pillage” by Obert Skye.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new books “Georgia the Guinea Pig Fairy” by Daisy Meadows and “The Zoo Crew” by Carolyn Keene. New picture books are “Attack of the Tyrannosaurs” by Rex Stone, “Eloise Decorates for Christmas” by Lisa McClatchy, “For the Luck of Autumn” by Patricia Polacco and “Fancy Nancy and the Boy From Paris” by Jane O’Connor.

Children will celebrate with a “Halloween Party" during Storyhour on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 and Thursday, October 30, 2008. Storyhour is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year.
