Bald Mountain Rounders Performing Friday, November 14!

The library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day.

It is time to get your tickets for the Chadron bluegrass band, “Bald Mountain Rounders!” The band will be playing on Friday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds. The NCL Foundation is bringing this group to town supported in part from the Wyoming Arts Council, through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes a great nation deserves great art. Tickets are available at the library for $10 or from any foundation member.

A new fiction book is “The Letters” by Luanne Rice. Sam and Hadley West lost their only son in Alaska. Now at opposite ends of the country while waiting for their divorce to be finalized, they begin writing letters that are filled with longings and truths never before voiced.

Other new fiction includes Oprah’s new book club selection “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” by David Wroblewski, “If There Be Dragons” by Kay Hooper, “The Phoenix Endangered” by Mercedes Lackey, “Sharetail” by Thomas Cobb and “Fine Just the Way It Is” by Annie Proulx.

New non-fiction books are “Keepers of the Soul: the Five Guardian Elements of Acupuncture” by Nora Franglea, “Dewey: the Small Town Library Cat Who Touched the World” by Vicki Myron and “The Source: Unleash Your Natural Energy, Power Up Your Health, and Feel 10 Years Younger” by Woodson Merrell, M.D.

A new young adult book is Chrisopher Paolini’s long awaited conclusion to the Inheritance trilogy, “Brisingr.” Call to place your hold today on this popular book.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books “Katie the Kitty Fairy” by Daisy Meadows, “Ski School Sneak” by Carolyn Keene and “Kenny and the Dragon” by Tony Diterlizzi. New easy titles are “Down in a Box” by Brent Sudduth and “I am Venom” by N. T. Raymond.

“I'm Thankful for Family" is the theme for Storyhour on Thursday, November 13, 2008 (the library is closed Tues., 11/11). Storyhour is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year.
