Monday, January 26 the first of four films in the American Journey series will be shown at the library. The series explores journeys from the margins and the mainstream of American life through the lens of popular films. The film, Easy Rider begins with a free meal at 6 p.m. Deane Tucker, PhD. Professor of Humanities at Chadron State College will facilitate discussion. The series is funded by the We the People Initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities and is sponsored in part by the Wyoming Humanities Council. Kay Scarpetta accepts an assignment in New York City when the NYPD asks her to examine a man who claims his injuries were sustained in the course of a murder that he didn't commit. Is he an insane murderer -- or is he being stalked by the actual killer? Be sure to check out "Scarpetta," Patricia Cornwell's newest novel.

Other new fiction books include "Just after Sunset" by Stephen King, "A Mercy" by Toni Morrison, "The Memorist" by M. J. Rose, "Cruel Intent" by J. A. Jance, "The Gods Return" by David Drake and "Sweet Trouble" by Susan Mallery.

New non-fiction includes "Secrets of the Light: 7 Lessons From Heaven" by Dannion Brinkley, "Hitman: Forty Years Making Music, Topping Charts, & Winning Grammys" by David Foster and "Strategy 360: 10 Steps to Creating a Complete Game Plan for Business and Life" by Randall Bell.

New young adult books are "Something Borrowed" by Catherine Hapka and "My Brain is Hanging Upside Down" by David Heatley.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new chapter books "A Star Discovered" by JoAnn S. Dawson,"Raptor's Revenge" by Joseph Kchodl and "P.S. I Really Like You" by Nancy Krulik. New picture books are "Treasure Trouble" by Brian James, "Someone for Mr. Sussman" by Patricia Polacco and"Ernest and Elston" by Laura T. Barnes.

Hats and Mittens is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, January 27 and Thursday, January 29. Storyhour is held on Tuesday and Thursday from from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
