Krispy Kreme doughnuts will be available at the library on Friday, May 1 beginning at 7:30 a.m. Randi Hamilton will also be on hand from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. if you have documents that you would like to get shredded. A new fiction book is “Paths of Glory” by Jeffrey Archer. George Mallory once told a reporter that he wanted to climb Mt. Everest “because it’s there.” On his third attempt in 1924 at the age of 37, he was last seen 600 feet from the top. His body was found in 1999. It still remains a mystery whether he ever reached the summit.

Other new fiction books include “Gallant March” by Jennifer Blake, “Cream Puff Murder” by Joanne Fluke, “Handle With Care” by Jodi Picoult, “North Star” by Richard S. Wheeler, “The Grand Finale” by Janet Evanovich and “Out at Night” by Susan Arnout Smith.

New non-fiction books are “Befriend and Betray: Infiltrating the Hells Angels, Bandidos, and Other Criminal Brotherhoods” by Alex Caine, “Sowing Crisis: the Cold War and American Dominance in the Middle East” by Rashid Khalidi and “The Return of Depression Economics and the Crisis of 2008” by Paul Krugman.

New for young adults is “Moonlight” by Rachel Hawtorne. The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new chapter books “Abe Lincoln Grows Up” by Carl Sandburg and “Lifting the Sky” by Mackie d’Arge. New picture books are “Quiet Bunny” by Lisa McCue, “Birds” by Kevin Henkes and “The Friendship Puzzle” by Julie L. Coe.

"Mothers" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, May 5 and Thursday, May 7. Storyhour is held on Tuesday and Thursday from from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
