Children’s summer programming begins in earnest next week. Call now to register your children for the “Be Creative @your Library” Summer Reading program which begins June 3 from 1 to 2 p.m. through July 8. Yvonne has lots of creative stories, crafts and activities planned for children that have completed the first through fifth grades. The Hey Kids! program also begins the first of June, with this program children create a goal of a number of books or pages to read each week. Once they do that twice they receive a gift certificate for a free ice cream cone at the BarBQ Corral or a free day of swimming at the town pool. We keep track of everything; all you have to do is sign up and report the progress each week. Call today for more information.

Thursday afternoon movies begin on June 4 with “The Tale of Despereaux” showing at 1 p.m. This animated feature is rated G and is 93 minutes long. “The Tale of Despereaux” features a little mouse that is born tiny, wheezy and with comically oversized ears and is very different from his family.
