Disney's irresistible talking puppies are back in a movie that takes them where no Buddy has gone before – to the moon! “Space Buddies” will be shown at the library on Thursday, June 25 at 1 p.m. This out-of-this-world adventure moves at warp speed as the Buddies and their two new friends must summon their courage and ingenuity to launch plans for a moon landing and a rocketing trip back home. The library will provide the popcorn, bring your own beverages.

New for mystery readers is “The 8th Confession” by James Patterson. A preacher with a message of hope for the homeless is found brutally executed. San Francisco’s perfect couple is found dead in their luxurious home. These cases test the skills of the entire Women’s Murder Club with the further complication of sparks flying between Detective Lindsey Boxer and her partner, Rick Conklin making it difficult for them to stay focused on the cases.

Other new fiction includes “No Survivors” by Tom Cain, “Tea Time For the Traditionally Built” by Alexander McCall Smith, “Look Again” by Lisa Scottoline, “Schemers” by Bill Pronzini and “Loitering with Intent” by Stuart Woods.

New non-fiction books are “Understanding Composition: the Complete Photographers Guide” by Steve Milligan, “Serious Barbecue: Smoke, Char, Baste, and Brush Your Way to Outdoor Cooking” by Adam Perry Long and “The Investment Revolutionaries: How the World’s Greatest Investors Take on Wall Street and Win in Any Market” by James N. Whiddon.

Several new young adult books are available, including “The Underneath” by Kathi Appelt.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new easy titles “Clues in the Shadows” by Kathleen Ernst and “A Horse Named Dragon” by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Also available are “Saurophaganax and Other Meat-Eating Dinosaurs” by Dougal Dixon and “Papa is a Pirate” by Katharina Grossmann-Hensel.

"Summertime" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 23 and Thursday, June 25. Storyhour is held on Tuesday and Thursday throughout the year from from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
