Wally Lamb’s newest book is “Wishin’ and Hopin’: a Christmas Story.” In this witty 1960’s holiday tale 10 year-old Felix is sure of a few things: the birds and the bees are puzzling, television is magical, and this is one Christmas he will never forget.

New adult non-fiction books are “What the Dog Saw and Other Adventures” by Malcolm Gladwell, “High on Arrival” by Mackenzie Phillips and “One Simple Act: Discovering the Power of Generosity” by Debbie Macomber.

New books for the young adults are/“Devil’s Kiss” by Sarwat Chadda and “Shiver” by Maggie Stiefvater.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles: “The Tiger’s Egg” by Jon Berkeley, “Alcatraz Versus the Knight of Crystallia” by Brandon Sanderson and “The Secret of Zoom” by Lynne Jonell. New easy titles are “Imogene’s Last Stand” by Candace Fleming, “Pigs Make me Sneeze” by Mo Williams and “Auntie Claus, Home for the Holidays” by Elsie Primavera.

"Merry Christmas!" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, December 22, a special visitor will also be on hand. The library will be closed on December 24. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
