Energy efficiency is the goal of a program to be held at the library on Wednesday, January 13 at 6:30 p.m. Sheldon Albertson, NEA Manager will present this program to help consumers address rising electric costs and share ways to save energy and money. Plan now to attend!

Niobrara County Reads! Copies of “Wife of Moon” by Margaret Coel are now available at the library to pick up! This Read and Pass-on program is a series featuring book discussions, films and presentations including author Margaret Coel in April! Stop by now for your copy! This series is funded in part by grants from the Niobrara Recreation District, the Wyoming Arts Council through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Niobrara County Library and the Niobrara County Library Foundation.

A new fiction book is “Southern Lights” by Danielle Steel. As Manhattan Assistant D.A. Alexa Hamilton prepares her latest case against accused serial killer Luke Quentin threatening letters arrive for her 17-year-old daughter, Savannah. Certain that Quentin is behind these letters, Alexa must make a tough choice: set aside memories of cruelty and betrayal or send Savannah back to Charleston and her father’s world of southern traditions.

Other new fiction includes “Bed of Roses” by Nora Roberts, “Time Travelers Never Die” by Jack McDevitt, “Rainwater” by Sandra Brown, “The Wind Harp” by B.J. Hoff, “The House at Riverton” by Kate Morton and ”The Hero of Ages” by Brandon Sanderson. New young adult titles are: “Lament: the Faerie Queen’s Deception” by Maggie Stiefvater and “The Beggar of Volubilis” by Caroline Lawrence.

Non-fiction books recently acquired include “The 2012 Story: the Myth, the Fallacies, and the Truth Behind the Most Intriguing Date in History” by John Major Jenkins, “Googled: the End of the World As We Know It” by Ken Auletta and “Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul: How to Create a New You” by Deepak Chopra.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new chapter books: “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” by Jeff Kinney, “The Wyrm King” by Tony DiTerlizzi and “Bran Hambric: the Fairfield Curse” by Kaleb Nation. Picture books on the new shelf include: “Bear Flies High” by Michael Rosen, “Skippyjon Jones Lost in Spice” by Judy Schachner and “Charlie is Broken” by Lauren Child.

"Gingerbread!" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, January 12 and Thursday, January 14. This weekly program is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
