On Monday, February 22 at 6 p.m. the library will show the film, “In the Land of the Head Hunters” (aka “In the Land of the War Canoes”). Famed photographer and featured character in “Wife of Moon,” Edward S. Curtis wrote and directed the film in 1915. The evening includes a light meal and discussion facilitated by Deane Tucker, discussion will also include participants from Wyoming Women’s Center. This series is funded in part by grants from the Niobrara Recreation District, the Wyoming Arts Council through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Niobrara County Library and the Niobrara County Library Foundation.

A new suspense book is “Crawlspace” by Sarah Graves. Jacobia Tiptree abandoned Wall Street to fix up an 1823 Federal-style house in Eastport, Maine where the infamous Dodd murders occurred. When true-crime author Carolyn Rathbone arrives in town to research the Dodd case for a new book, things start to escalate and Jacobia finds herself targeted by one of the most deranged criminal minds she’s ever encountered.

Other new fiction books include “Sarah’s Key” by Tatiana de Rosnay, “Toll the Hounds” by Steven Erikson, “Burn” by Ted Dekker, “Fired Up” by Jayne Ann Krentz and “The Busted Thumb Horse Ranch” by Paul Bagdon. “The High Road” by Daniel Kirk and “Witch & Wizard” by James Patterson are new in the Young Adult Section.

New non-fiction books are “The Truth About Psychics” by Sylvia Browne, “Literary Life: a Second Memoir” by Larry McMurtry, “Warren Buffet on Business: Principles From the Sage of Omaha” by Richard J. Conners and “Save Big: Cut Your Top 5 Costs and Save Thousands” by Elizabeth Leamy.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles: “Captured” by Rob Valois, “100 Cupboards” by N. D. Wilson and “The Case of the Case of Mistaken Identity” by Mac Barnett. New picture books are “Teamwork” by Rebecca Rozer, “Heart to Heart” by Jan O’Connor, “Carl’s Snowy Afternoon” by Alexander Day and “When Robots Attack” by Ray Santos.

"Friends" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, February 23 and Thursday, February 25. This weekly program is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
