The library will be closed on Sunday, April 4, 2010 for Easter. Regular hours resume at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010. Happy Easter!

The third of three RIF programs will be held on Wednesday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. Featuring Kites the evening is sure to be fun for all. Children will be able to select their very own book(s) to keep and activities will also be held.

Friday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. plan to drop by the library for an evening of saxophone music presented through the second annual University of Wyoming tour, “Arts in Unlikely Places.” The University of Wyoming Quartet is comprised of Harrison Welshimer (Gillette), Philip Moline (Riverton), Nicklas Waroff (Ashland, OR) and Tyler Cessor (Cheyenne). The evening is sponsored by the Wyoming Arts Council and is free and open to the public. For more information contact the library at 334-3490.

“The Postmistress” by Sarah Blake is a novel about two extraordinary women and two countries torn apart by war. On the eve of the United States entrance into WWII, Iris James, the postmistress of Franklin, Massachusetts does the unthinkable: she doesn’t deliver a letter. In London, American radio gal, Frankie Bard who is working with Edward R. Murrow and reporting on the Blitz, meets a doctor from Franklin who gives her a letter to deliver when she returns home. Two letters, two secrets that collide in a way no one could have foreseen.

Other new fiction books include “Flirt” by Laurell K. Hamilton, “Brava Valentine” by Adriana Trigiani, “Secrets of Eden” by Chris Bohjalian, “Winter’s Awakening” by Shelley Shepard Gray, “Shadow Tag” by Louise Erdrich and “An Irish Country Girl” by Patrick Taylor. New on the YA fiction shelf: “A Million Shades of Gray” by Cynthia Kadohata and “Your Life, But Better!” by Crystal Velasguez.

Now available in the non-fiction section: “Spirited: Connect to the Guides All Around You” by Rebecca Rosen, “I Am Ozzy” by Ozzy Osborne, “Tea with Hezbollah: Sitting at the Enemies Table, Our Journey Through the Middle East” by Ted Dekker and “Equally Shared Parenting: Rewriting the Rules For a New Generation of Parents” by Marc Vachon.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles: “The Spooks Tale and Other Horrors” and “Attack of the Fiend” by Joseph Delaney plus “Soul Eater” by Michelle Paver. New picture books are “Dinosaurs Love Underpants” by Claire Freedman, “I Am a Backhoe” by Anna Grossnickle Hines and “Dodsworth in London” by Tim Egan.

"Just Ducky" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 8. This weekly program is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
