If you haven’t yet signed your children up for the summer reading program stop by or call, 334-3490; this program continues through mid-July. The library, along with The Bar BQ Corral and the Lusk Swimming Pool will once again be sponsoring the “HEY KIDS!” program. This reading encouragement program asks readers to complete their goal for 2 weeks and then a certificate that is good for either a free ice cream cone or swimming is awarded. Stop by and set your goals, this is a great way to keep your family reading!
Thursday afternoon movies are back beginning at 1 p.m. on June 3 with the film, “The Spy Next Door” followed by “Alice in Wonderland” on the June 10. Both of these films are rated PG and more information is on the library website about these films. Popcorn will be provided but attendees must bring their own drink.
A new thriller is “Think Twice” by Lisa Scottoline. Bennie Rosato looks exactly like her identical twin, Alice Connelly, but the darkness in Alice’s soul makes them two very different women. Or at least that’s what Bennie believes—until she finds herself buried alive at the hands of her twin… sure to be a compelling read! Call today to place a reserve!
Other new fiction includes “The Executer” by Jesse Kellerman, “Hell Gate” by Linda Fairstein, “Edge of Apocalypse” by Tim LaHaye, “Cat of the Century“ by Rita Mae Brown, “Caught” by Harlan Coben and “Her Mother’s Hope” by Francine Rivers. Kay Cassidy’s “The Cinderella Society” is now available on the YA shelf.
“The Day I Shot Cupid: Hello, My Name is Jennifer Love Hewitt and I’m a Love-aholic” by Jennifer Love Hewitt is on the new non-fiction shelf along with “Home Cooking with Trish Yearwood: Stories and Recipes to Share with Family and Friends” by Trisha Yearwood and “The Shift: Taking Your Life from Ambition to Meaning” by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles: “Gregory and the Marks of Secret” and "Gregory and the Code of the Claw” by Suzanne Collins as well as “Diamond Jim Dandy and the Sheriff” by Sarah Burell and “Mother’s Day Surprise” by Stephen Krensky.
"Moody" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 3. This weekly program is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year.
