Merry Christmas! The library will be closed on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, 2010 and also on New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31, 2010. We wish everyone a very joyous holiday season and look forward to serving you in 2011.

Children in the first through fifth grades can now start registering for the winter afterschool program series, “Steed Reads” which begins January 4 and 6. Yvonne has lots of fun planned around horses, for more information be sure to call (334-3490) or stop by.

Thursday, December 30 at 1 p.m. “Nanny McPhee Returns!” This family movie is the latest installment of the magical nanny, Nanny McPhee. Sure to be fun for all, the library will provide the popcorn, be sure to bring your own beverage. This PG film is 109 minutes.

The quiet scandal surrounding her parents’ deaths twenty years ago has always haunted Beryl Tavistock in Tess Gerritsen’s newest book, “In Their Footsteps.” Beryl is asking dangerous questions and the answers are proving that the past does not die easily. She needs help – and quickly and former CIA agent Richard Wolf is her only hope. Yet friends can become enemies and enemies can be killers…..

Other new fiction includes ”The Confession” by John Grisham, “Playing the Game” by Barbara Taylor Bradford, “Rose in a Storm” by Jon Katz, “Killer Heat” by Brenda Novak, “Huckleberry Murders” by Patrick F. McManus, “Whisper My Name” by

New non-fiction books are “The Bushman Way of Tracking God: the Original Spirituality of the Kalahari People” by Bradford Keeney, PH. D. and “How Did I Get Here?: the Ascent of an Unlikely CEO” by Tony Hawk.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books, “Heads or Tails” by Bernadette Kelly, “Taking the Reins” by Alison Hart, plus “Skater’s Secret” and “Tennis Trouble” by Jake Maddox. New easy titles include “A Planet Called Home” by Lisa S. French, “Clever Jack Takes the Cake” by Candace Fleming and “Frank and the Balloon” by Dev Ross.
