The library will be closed on Monday July 4, 2011 in observance of Independence Day. Regular hours resume on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

“Bedtime Stories” will be shown at the library on Thursday, July 7 at 1 p.m. Skeeter Bronson finds his life changed forever when the magical bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to mysteriously come true. The movie is 99 minutes and rated PG. The library provides the popcorn; you need to bring your own drinks.

A new thriller by Dale Brown is “A Time for Patriots.”. Murderous bands of militiamen are roaming the western U.S. and attacking government agencies. U.S. Air Force Lieutenant-General Patrick McLanahan vows to take to the skies to put an end to the homegrown insurgency. When his son, Bradley also signs up for the fight they soon find themselves caught in a deadly game against a shadowy opponent. Sure to be a page-turner!

Other new fiction books include “The Midwife’s Confession” by Diane Chamberlain, “Homecoming” by Malcolm Dylan Petteway, “Just Wanna Testify” by Pearl Cleage, “The Informant” by Thomas Perry, “The Butterfly’s Daughter” by Mary Alice Monroe, “A Drip of the Hard Stuff” by Lawrence Block and “The Bride’s House” by Sandra Dallas. The newest addition in Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments” series is “City of Fallen Angels” now on the YA shelf. This title is also available as an audiobook.

New non-fiction books are “The Secret Lives of Hoarders: True Stories of Tackling Extreme Clutter” by Matt Paxton, “On China” by Henry Kissinger and “A Father’s Love: One Man’s Unrelenting Battle to Bring His Abducted Son Home” by David Goldman.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books “Scooby-Doo in Screechy Keen” by Terrance Grip Jr., “The Hidden Gallery” by Maryrose Wood and “The Clone Wars: Hero of the Confederacy” by Henry Gilroy.
