The library holds Children's Storyhour each Tuesday throughout the year for children that are three until they enter first grade. This program features stories, activities and crafts and is held year-round. If you would like more information about this program be sure to stop by!
Did you know that you can check out music CD's at the library? Books on CD and Tape and DVD's and Videos are also available. These items include current popular titles as well as classics and in the DVD section there are many documentaries as well as television shows. All of these items circulate for two weeks and can be reserved if unavailable. Stop in and check it out or go to WyldCat on the library's website: http://niobraracountylibrary.org.
Don't forget the movie, "Rango" will be shown at the library on Thursday, July 21 at 1 p.m. Afternoon movies are shown each Thursday at 1 p.m. throughout the summer. Showing on the 28th is: "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" which is rated G and lasts 94 minutes.
"My Dear, I Wanted To Tell You" by Louisa Young is a historical novel about five lives intertwined during World War I and how the war affected them. Peter and Riley are fighting for their country, their survival and their sanity in the trenches. In England, Peter's wife waits eagerly for his return while his cousin, Rose and Riley's wife have joined the Voluntary Aid Detachment which helps nurse wounded soldiers at home and abroad. This thoughtful story about the war and the relationships that are affected is available to reserve.
Other new fiction books include "The Demon's Parchment" by Jeri Westerson, "Blood Trust" by Eric Van Lustbader, "Treason at Lisson Grove" by Anne Perry, "Those in Peril" by Wilbur Smith, "The Devil's Star" by Jo Nesbo, "The Jefferson Key" by Steve Berry, "The Story of a Beautiful Girl" by Rachel Simon and "The White Devil" by Justin Evans. Scott Westerfield's newest addition, "Behemoth" is on the YA shelf.
New adult non-fiction books are "From This Moment On" by Shania Twain, "The Last Gunfight: the Real Story of the Shootout at the O.K. Corral - and How It Changed the American West" by Jeff Guinn and "20 Years Younger: Look Younger, Feel Younger, Be Younger" by Bob Greene.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books "The Way of the Warrior" by Chris Bradford, "Moonshadow: Rise of the Ninja" by Simon Higgins and "The Ugly Truth" by Jeff Kinney. A new picture book is "Every Cowgirl Needs a Horse" by Rebecca Janni.
