As we celebrate the 100th birthday of Niobrara County and Lusk’s 125th we would like to invite you to stop by the library on August 3 from 4-6 p.m. to visit with June Willson Read, author of “Frontier Madam: The Life of Dell Burke, Lady of Lusk.” This book signing will feature “Frontier Madam” as well as the children’s book, “Doorway to Adventure” and Anna Sharon Logan’s memoir, “View from an Apple Tree.” Plan now to drop by before attending the barbeque at the fairgrounds!

When Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, meets the fiercely independent Jewel, he takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro in the movie, Rio which will be showing at the library on Thursday, August 4 at 1 p.m. The film is rated G and 94 minutes, bring your own beverage, we’ll provide the popcorn.

Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium,. will be showing on Thursday, July 28 at 1 p.m.

A new book by Andrea Kane is “The Girl Who Disappeared Twice.” Despite all her years determining the fate of families, Judge Hope Willis could not save her daughter, Krissy. Frantically grasping at any hope she calls Casey Woods and her team of renegade investigators, Forensic Instincts, who aren’t bound by the legal system. They know that the difference between Krissy coming back alive and disappearing forever could be as small as a suspect’s rapid breathing or as deep as Hope’s dark family history. Be sure to check this out!

Other new fiction includes “The Kingdom” by Clive Cussler, “The Heart Specialist” by Claire Holden Rothman, “Trader of Secrets” by Steve Martini, “Unnatural Issue” by Mercedes Lackey, “The Sisters Brothers” by Patrick deWitt, “Hit List” by Laurell K. Hamilton, “The Ridge” by Michael Koryta and “Beach Lane” by Sherryl Woods. New for the young adult is “Finders Keepers” by Marilyn Kaye.

New non-fiction books are “The Man in the Rockefeller Suit: the Astonishing Rise and Spectacular Fall of a Serial Imposter” by Mark Seal, “The Mayan Prophecies, 2012: the Message and the Vision” by Gerald Benedict and “The Boy in the Moon: a Father’s Journey to Understand His Extraordinary Son” by Ian Brown.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books “The Way of the Sword” by Chris Bradford, “Hercules: a Matter of Trust” by Heather Brooks and “Elska” by Cathy Hapka. New picture books are: “Flotsam” by David Wiesner and “A Beach Trail” by Karen Lynn Williams.
