The Niobrara County Library Foundation is planning a Wine Tasting with a variety of cheeses as well as hors d’oeuvres on Sunday, January 15 from 2-5 p.m. at the Niobrara Country Club. Water2Wine from Denver will offer a variety of wines to try and will also demonstrate their process of winemaking. Tickets are now available at the library or from any foundation members for $30. Proceeds will be matched through the Wyoming Public Library Endowment Challenge Program.

A new political thriller is “The Tehran Initiative” by Joel C. Rosenberg. The world is on the brink of disaster. Iran has just conducted its first atomic weapons test. The White House fears Jerusalem will launch a massive preemptive attack against Iran’s nuclear facilities that could cause the entire Middle East to go up in flames. CIA operative David Shirizi and his team are sent to track down and sabotage Iran’s nuclear warheads before Iran or Israel can launch a devastating first strike. But will they be too late?

Other new fiction books include “To Santa With Love” by Janet Dailey, “Forbidden” by Ted Dekker, “Prince of Ravenscar” by Catherine Coulter, “Cold Vengeance” by Douglas Preston, “In Seconds” by Brenda Novak, “11/23/63” by Stephen King, “Christmas in Sugar Creek” by Shelley Shepard Gray and “The River Queen” by Gilbert Morris. New titles for the young adult are “Sisters in Sanity” by Gayle Forman and “Perfect” by Ellen Hopkins.

New adult non-fiction books are “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin” by Joe McGinniss, “Ocean Drifters: A Secret World beneath the Waves” by Richard R. Kirby, “I Didn’t Ask to be Born (But I’m Glad I Was)” by Bill Crosby and “Holiday Crafting & Baking with Kids: Gifts, Sweets, and Treats for the Whole Family” by Jessica Strand.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books: “Haunted Kids: True Ghost Stories” by Allan Zullo, “Into the Spotlight” by Erin Falligant and “Meet Marie-Grace” by Sarah Masters Buckley. Some new easy readers are “I Spy Fly-Guy!" by Ted Arnold and “Work This Farm” by Michael Anthony Steele.
