Thank you for your patience as new lighting is being installed in the library this week. If it’s possible to open the building through the Carnegie entrance we will do so, watch for signs. The library will return to normal hours on Monday, March 26.

The movie, “Jeremiah Johnson” will be shown at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 26. A light meal will be served and discussion will be facilitated by Deane Tucker. This is the third film in the “Survival” series.

A new fiction novel is “The Snow Child” by Eowyn Ivey. Homesteaders Jack and Mabel have carved out a quiet life of work and routine for themselves in the wilderness that is 1920’s Alaska. Then a little girl, calling herself Faina, shows up on their doorstep. Small and fair, she seems truly magical, and the couple soon comes to love her as their own. But in this beautiful, violent place, things are rarely as they appear, and what they eventually learn about Faina will transform them all.

Other new fiction books include “Death Benefit” by Robin Cook, “Helpless” by Daniel Palmer, “Northwest Angle” by William Kent Krueger, “The Magician King” by Lev Grossman, “The Fear Index” by Robert Harris and “Defending Jacob” by William Landay. “Clockwork Prince” by Cassandra Clare and “The Alchemy of Forever” by Avery Williams are now available in the young adult section.
New non-fiction titles are “Quilting: Step by Step” by Maggie Gordon, “Stocktopus: 17 pairs of socks to Knit and Show Off” by Alice Yu and “The Try: Reclaiming the American Dream” by James P. Owen.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books: “The Amazing Adventures of John Smith Jr. – aka Houdini” by Peter Johnson and “Kindred Souls” by Patricia MacLachlan. Some new picture books are “An Egg-cellent Easter” by Rebecca Frazer, “Levi Strauss gets a bright idea or: a fairly fabricated story of a pair of pants” by Tony Johnston and “Easter Engines” by Reverend A. Awdry.

There will be no Storyhour on March 20, 2012 as the library will be closed. The next Storyhour will be on March 27, 2012 at 10 a.m.
