Thank you to Harmony Lodge No. 24 members for recognizing the Library Board, Library Foundation, Friends of the Library and library staff with the Citizen of the Year award, 2011. Everyone involved works diligently to provide the best library possible to Niobrara County and we are greatly appreciative of this honor. If you haven’t been by the library lately, be sure to stop by and check it out. New materials are consistently being added and there is a wealth of information available electronically and through interlibrary loan. Patrons have the option to place holds on items, renew materials, and download free audio and eBooks from any internet connection. Validated research materials for almost any topic are a click away. A library card and PIN are all that is needed to access these services.

Everyone loved Tiffany Baker’s debut novel, “The Little Giant of Aberdeen County” and now her second is available, “The Gilly Salt Sisters.” The Gilly sisters grew up on their family’s salt farm on Cape Cod. Jo falls for the town’s wealthiest bachelor, Whit Turner, but it is Claire – heartbroken over her high school sweetheart – who marries him and leaves. Jo is forced to stay behind and keep the family business going. Years later, estranged from her family, Claire finds herself thrust back onto the family salt farm with the last person she would have chosen – her husband’s pregnant mistress.

Other new fiction books include “Flame of Destiny” by Colleen Helme, “Stay Close” by Harlan Coben, “Heart of Gold” by Robin Lee Hatcher, “Capitol Murder” by Philip Margolin, “Betrayal” by Danielle Steel, “Zone One” by Colson Whitehead, “Born to Darkness” by Suzanne Brockmann and “Chasing Midnight” by Randy Wayne White. New for the young adult is “House of Odd” by Dean Koontz.

New non-fiction books are “The Complete Jewelry Maker: Packed with Essential Projects and Techniques” by Jinks McGarth, “Resonance: Nine Practices for Harmonious Health & Vitality” by Joyce Whiteley Hawkes, Ph. D. and “Never Would Have Made It: the Rise of Tyler Perry” by Melvin Childs.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new books: “Heart of the Mummy” and “Flesh of the Zombie” by Tommy Donbavand and “The Moon over High Street” by Natalie Babbitt.
