The library will be closed Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th, 2013 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will be open at noon on Sunday, December 1, 2013. We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

The next Dinner & Movie will be on Monday, November 25 featuring the film, “Eight Below.” Inspired by a true story, this action adventure takes place in the extreme wilderness of Antarctica. Three members of an expedition are forced to leave behind their beloved group of sled dogs due to an accident and perilous weather condition. The film is rated PG and is 120 minutes. Deane Tucker will facilitate discussion and a light meal will be available.

Wednesday, December 4 the Friends of the Library will be holding a Christmas Cookie and Candy Sale at the library beginning at 3 p.m. Items are sold by the pound so you can choose whatever you like for a variety. Be sure to stop in and check it all out!

Also on December 4, local author, Don West will be on hand to sign copies of his new novel, "All that Glitters." More details in the future.

Legendary tribal sleuths – Leaphorn and Chee – are back! Anne Hillerman, daughter of Tony Hillerman continues his popular series with “Spider Woman’s Daughter.” After a breakfast with colleagues, Navajo Nation police officer, Bernadette Manuelito sees a sedan careen into the parking lot and hears a crack of gunfire. When the dust clears, someone very close to her is lying on the asphalt in a pool of blood. She is not about to sit idly by, especially when her husband, Sergeant John Chee is put in charge of finding the shooter.

Other new fiction books include “The Signature of All Things” by Elizabeth Gilbert, “The Bride Wore Size 12” by Meg Cabot, “Doing Hard Time” by Stuart Woods, “The Wolves of Midwinter” by Anne Rice, “Just One Evil Act” by Elizabeth George, “Rasputin’s Shadow” by Raymond Khoury, “Accused” by Lisa Scottoline and “An Untamed Heart” by Lauraine Snelling. Rick Riordan’s newest title is “The House of Hades” and is available among the new YA books.

“The Men Who United the States: America’s Explorers, Inventors, Eccentrics, and Mavericks, and the Creation of One Nation, Indivisible” By Simon Winchester is a new non-fiction title, along with “Thank You For Your Service” by David Finkel and “Sometimes You Win – Sometimes you Learn: Life’s Greatest Lessons are Gained From Our Losses” by John C. Maxwell.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books, “The Spotted Dog Last Seen” by Jessica Scott Kerrin and “Robot Rampage” by Greg Farshtey. A couple of new picture books are “Ling and Ting Share a Birthday” by Grace Lin and “Mr. Wuffles” by David Wiesner.
