On Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 1:45 Disney's "Planes: Fire & Rescue" will be shown for the Early Release. This heart-pumping comedy-adventure features a dynamic crew of elite aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfires. When world-famous air racer Dusty learns that he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting The movie is rated PG and is 100 minutes, the library provides the popcorn, but please bring your own drink.

There are still spaces available in the afterschool programs so call and register your child today!

Don't forget that on Monday, January 12 the "Anasazi Mystery" book discussion series will kick off with the showing of the film, "The Mystery of Chaco Canyon" at 6 p.m. at the library. Wayne Deahl returns to lead the series with the first book, "The Visitant" by Michael and Kathleen O'Neal Gear discussed on Monday, February 2. The authors will be at the library for the discussion, so stop by and register for the series soon!

"The Cinderella Murder" is the title of Mary Higgins Clark's latest novel. Under Suspicion, a cold case series revisiting unsolved cases, is off to a fantastic start when it helps solve an infamous murder in the first episode. The producer, Laurie Moran, has the ideal case for the next installment - the Cinderella Murder. When Susan Dempsey, a UCLA student, was found dead her murder left numerous questions, one of which was - why was she missing one of her shoes. Former suspects include tech billionaires and Hollywood's elite so the suspense and drama are perfect for the silver screen - but is Cinderella's murderer ready for a close-up?

Other new fiction books are "Prince Lestat" by Anne Rice, "Shopaholic to the Stars" by Sophie Kinsella, "Private India: City on Fire" by James Patterson, "The First Prophet" by Kay Hooper, "In Your Dreams" by Kristan Higgins, "Pale Harvest" by Braden Hepner, "The Job" by Janet Evanovich, "The Healing Quilt" by Wanda E. Brunstetter and "The Slow Regard of Silent Things" by Patrick Rothfuss. "The Bane Chronicles" by Cassandra Clare and "Endgame: the Calling" by James Frey are new titles in the YA section.

New nonfiction books are "41: a Portrait of My Father" by George W. Bush, "Living Courageously: You Can Face Anything, Just Do It Afraid" by Joyce Meyer and "Warman's Antiques & Collectibles, 2015" by Noah Fleisher.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books, "Heroes' Quest" by Heather Seabrook, "Mikey's Monster" by James Hollis and "Stella Batts: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow" by Courtney Sheinmel. Newer titles for our younger readers are "Pinkalicious: Crazy Hair Day" by Victoria Kann, "Calling All Master Builders" by David Fentiman and "A New Hope" by Emma Grange.
