If your children lost their favorite books during the recent flooding please stop by the library or call 334-3490 and talk with Debbie Sturman (dsturman@niobraracountylibrary.org) when it is convenient. The library staff, Board of Trustees, Foundation and Friends would like to begin building new collections of new books for your family.

"Annie" will be shown at the library on Thursday, June 18 at 1:30 p.m. and next week, "The Book of Life" will be featured. In "The Book of Life" Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart, embarks on an adventure that spans three fantastic worlds where he must face his greatest fears. This film is rated PG and 95 minutes, the library provides the popcorn, please bring your own drink.

The Friends of the Library will be hosting their annual booksale on Saturday, June 27 beginning at 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the library lawn. There are literally thousands of books, so please stop by! Everything must go! Also, the Annual Ice Cream Social will begin at 11 a.m. and continue through 2 p.m. The booksale and the ice cream social are both by donations.

"The Guest Cottage" is a new book by Nancy Thayer. Sensible thirty-six-year-old Sophie Anderson has known her role in life: supportive wife of a successful architect and calm, capable mother of two. When her husband leaves her for another woman, she realizes that she has no idea what's next. She impulsively rents a guest cottage on Nantucket only to discover that a widower, Trevor Blake along with his small son has also rented the house. Determined to make this a summer their kids will always remember, Sophie and Trevor agree to share the house, but as the summer unfolds they find themselves wondering if the guest cottage is all they want to share.

Other new fiction books are "The Ice Twins" by S. K. Tremayne, "Hold Me" by Susan Mallery, "Taken" by Dee Henderson, "Dry Bones" by Craig Johnson, "The Forgiven" by Marta Perry, "The Summer's End" by Mary Alice Monroe and "Fangs Out" by David Freed. A new title for the young adult is "Palace of Lies" by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

New nonfiction books are "Falling into Heaven: a Skydiver's Gripping Account of Heaven, Healing, and Miracles" by Mickey Robinson, "Waterloo: the History of Four Days, Three Armies, and Three Battles" by Bernard Cornwell and "The Elimination Diet: Discover the Foods That Are Making You Sick and Tired and Feel Better Fast" by Alissa Segersten.
