The library will be closed on Monday, May 30, 2016 for Memorial Day observation. Regular hours resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31.

The third of four programs in the Natural Healing series will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m. with Donna Annis presenting information on Reiki. Reiki is a form of therapy that uses a simple hands-on or no-touch technique with the goal of improving the flow of life energy in a person. Reiki is often used to achieve similar effects of massage therapy - to relieve stress and pain, and to improve the symptoms of various health conditions. Donna is from Casper and has been practicing Reiki for over 20 years. Library programs are free and open to the public.

Have you registered your children for the library's summer reading program? "On Your Mark, Get Set... Read" begins Wednesday, June 1 at 1:15 p.m. and continues through mid-July. For more information stop by or call 334-3490.

The first film in the summer Thursday afternoon series is "Open Season: Scared Silly" on Thursday, June 2 at 1:15 p.m. The film is rated PG and is 84 minutes. The library will provide the popcorn, please bring your own drinks.

Users of the popular Mango Languages program received notice earlier this month that Mango will no longer be available due to budget cuts at the Wyoming State Library. This week the State Library announced that the University of Wyoming is working with Mango Languages to provide statewide access after the State Library's contract ends on May 31st. Wyoming author, John D. Nesbitt's newest novel is "Death in Cantera." When a stranger named Dunbar comes to Cantera he shows an interest in local history, especially the Frenchman's Quarry and the death of the owner's son 20 years earlier and he is asks about Town Marshal Pat Roderick and the Frenchman's widow. Then, the murders begin - it is Dunbar's mission to pursue the perpetrator and bring him to justice.

Other new fiction books include "Dark Promises" by Christine Feehan, "One With You" by Sylvia Day, "Calamity" by Brandon Sanderson, "Miller's Valley" by Anna Quindlen, "Boar Island" by Nevada Barr, "Once a Rancher" by Linda Lael Miller, "Priceless" by Sherryl Woods and "God's Not Dead 2" by Travis Thrasher. New titles in the young adult section are "Broken Crowns" by Lauren DeStefano and "Backwards" by Todd Mitchell.

"Eruption: the Untold Story of Mount St. Helens" by Steve Olson is among new non-fiction along with "Rightful Heritage: Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Land of America" by Douglas Brinkley and "A Brief History of Time" by Steven Hawking.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books, "The Worst Class Trip Ever" by Dave Barry, "Spring According to Humphrey" by Betty G. Birney and "The Stolen Sapphire: a Samantha Mystery" by Sandra Masters Buckey. A few of the new easy titles are "Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster" by Michelle Nelson-Schmidt, "I Love You, Dad" by Maggie Testa and "Love is All around Wyoming" by Wendi Silvano.
