Niobrara County Library Announces the Fall Book Discussion - "Muslim Journeys"
Friday, July 29, 2016

Starting in September the Niobrara County Library will host "Muslim Journeys," a reading and discussion series. The first discussion for the group will be on Tuesday, September 6 at 6 p.m. and will feature the book "House of Stone: A Memoir of Home, Family and a Lost Middle East" by Anthony Shadid. Wayne Deahl will return to lead the discussions. To register and borrow books, contact the library at 307-334-3490 or stop by 425 S. Main Street. Library programs are free and open to the public.

Participants in "Muslim Journeys" will also read and discuss "Broken Verses" by Kamila Shamsie on Monday, October 3; "Dreams of Trespass: Tales of a Harem Girlhood" by Fatima Mernissi on Monday, November 7 and on Monday, December 5 "In the Country of Men" by Hisham Matar. The series is designed to open doors to the experiences of adults and children living in Muslim-majority societies and demonstrate the rich diversity of experience, the variety of Muslim opinions, and confirm our shared values.

The program is offered by the Wyoming Humanities Council and funded by National Endowment for the Humanities and support from the Wyoming Legislature.
