One of our newer novels is “Gods of Howl Mountain” by Taylor Brown. Rory Docherty has returned home to the fabled mountains of North Carolina, slowed by a wooden leg and haunted by memories of the Korean War. He runs bootleg whiskey in a retro-fitted 1940 Ford Coupe and lives with his formidable grandmother, “Granny May,” a folk-healer whose powers are rumored to rival those of a wood witch. While “Granny May” concocts potions and cures for the mountain people, she also harbors an explosive secret about Rory’s mother. When Rory’s life is threatened “Granny May” must decide whether to reveal what she knows – or protect her only grandson from the past.

Other new fiction books are “Star Wars: the Last Jedi” by Jason Fry, “The Kremlin Conspiracy” by Joel C. Rosenberg, “I’ll Be Your Blue Sky” by Marisa de los Santos, “Frontier Justice” by South Dakota author, J.R.
