The Friends of the Library’s third Reading is Fun (RIF) program is this Wednesday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. with a musical performance by Doctor Noize! Children will all receive their very own books to keep! Plan to attend!

The dinner & movie series, “@ the Oscars” continues with the film, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” which will be featured Monday, March 25 at 6 p.m. This is a darkly comic drama from Academy Award nominee Martin McDonagh. After months have passed without a culprit in her daughter's murder case, Mildred Hayes makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at William Willoughby, the town's revered chief of police. When his second-in-command, Officer Dixon, an immature mother's boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing's law enforcement is only exacerbated. Frances McDormand (Mildred) received the Best Actress Award and Sam Newell (Officer Dixon) received the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his work in this film. A light meal will be available. Library programs are free and open to the public.

Book Art continues on Wednesday, March 27 at 5 p.m. If you’re interested in this class, call 307-334-3490 to reserve your space! Supplies are provided.

Joseph Finder’s latest novel is “Judgment.” Back in Boston, Judge Juliana Brody soon realizes that her one-night stand in Chicago was no random encounter. The man has an integral role in a sex-discrimination case that has received national attention. It soon becomes clear that personal humiliation or even the destruction of her career is the least of her concerns – her life and the lives of her family are in mortal jeopardy. In the end, turning the tables on her adversaries will require her to be as ruthless as they are. This book is also available on CD.

Other new fiction books are “Lavender Blue” by Donna Kauffman, “Tattered and Torn” by Carol Dean Jones, “Noose” by Eric Red, “Take a Chance” by Shelley Shepard Gray, “My Kind of Forever” by Tracy Brogan, “The Crooked Street” by Brian Freeman, “Secrets of Cedar Cabin” by Colleen Coble and “The Magnolia Inn” by Carolyn Brown. A new title young adult is “Slayer” by Kiersten White.

“Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive” by Stephanie Land is among new non-fiction books along with “The Curse of Oak Island: the Story of the World’s Longest Treasure Hunt” by Randall Sullivan and “The Mindful Runner: Finding Your Inner Focus” by Gary Dudney.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books, “Tiny Tim” by Kate Klimo, “Making Your Z-Move” by Simcha Whitehill and “Eliza Bing is (Not) a Star” by Carmella Van Vleet. A few of the newer easy readers include “Little Owl’s Snow” by Divya Srinivasan, “Plum” by Sean Hayes, “Sophie Johnson, Unicorn Expert” by Morag Hood and “The Broken Ornament” by Tony DiTerlizzi.
