Paint @ the Library will be held on Monday, July 15 at 1 p.m. A summer painting is planned by artist, Barb Orr. Call the library to register your space, 307-334-3490. Young children should be accompanied by an adult.

The Friends of the Library are excited to present Meghan Casey and Rocky Mountain Puppets on Friday, July 19 at 1 p.m. with the show, “Space-A-Cade.” Celebrating a Universe of Stories be sure to attend because Lenny needs your help and brain power to get his spaceship home again!

Keeping with the theme, “A Universe of Stories,” the inflatable planetarium from “The Journey Museum & Learning Center” in Rapid City will be available for all ages to enjoy our universe on Tuesday, July 23. Shows are approximately 20 minutes and begin at 3:30 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m. Refreshments will also be available. The event will be held at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Beef Barn and is sponsored by the Niobrara County Library Foundation.

It’s time to order your Colorado peaches! Call the library at 334-3490 or contact any foundation member. The peaches are approximately 20 pounds for $40.00 and are expected to arrive around August 8. This Library Foundation fundraiser is matched with funds from the Public Library Endowment Challenge.

“Lost Roses” is a new novel by Martha Hall Kelly. In 1914 Eliza Ferriday is thrilled to be traveling to St. Petersburg with Sofya Streshnayva, a cousin of the Romanovs. When Austria declares war on Serbia and Russia’s imperial dynasty begins to fall, Eliza escapes back to America while Sofya and her family flee to their country estate. Back home Eliza does her part helping White Russian families find safety; then Sofya’s letters stop coming and Eliza fears she will never see her friend again.

Other new fiction books are “Under the Table” by Stephanie Evanovich, “Before She was Found” by Heather Gudenkauf, “The Duel” by Giles Tippette, “Forever and Forever” by Josi S. Kilpack, “Miles From Where We Started” by Cynthia Ruchti, “The 13-Minute Murder” by James Patterson, “Far and Away” by Fern Michaels, “Willing to Die” by Lisa Jackson and “Metropolis by Philip Kerr. New young adult titles include “The Lovely and the Lost” by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and “The Fall of Crazy House” by James Patterson.

Tina Turner’s biography, “My Love Story” is among new nonfiction along with “Can’t Make This Stuff Up! “ by Susannah B. Lewis and “Apollo 8: the Mission That Changed Everything” by Martin W. Sandler.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books “The Light Jar” by Lisa Thompson, “The Bridge Home” by Padma Venkatraman and “The Terrible Twos Last Laugh” by Mac Barnett. Several newer easy titles are “Flubby is Not a Good Pet” by J.E. Morris, “How I Learned to Fall Out of Trees” by Vincent X. Kirsch, “The Little Guys” by Vera Brosgol, and “Hello Crabby” by Jonathan Fenske.

“Apollo Launch, 1969!” is the theme for Storyhour on July 16, 2019. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year. Call 334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story. Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
