Colorado magicians “The Incredible Mr. E & Kyle” will perform at the library on Friday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. Entertainment for all ages!

“It Happened One Night” is the second film in the dinner & movie series, “The Lighter Side” and will be shown on Monday, September 30 at 6 p.m. Starring Claudette Colbert, Walter Connolly and Clark Gable and directed by Frank Capra this film won the 1934 Oscar. Deane Tucker facilitates this series and a light meal will be available.

Have you wanted to learn to crochet? Or, maybe you have a project you’re working on and have questions. Local fiber artist Vickie Scott will share her talent this fall. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays, October 2, October 9 and October 16 at 5:30 p.m. bring your supplies and questions for this three-week session. Vickie will have some beginner patterns available. Library programs are free and open to the public.

The library presents international musician Sarah McQuaid on Thursday, October 3 at 6 p.m. at the Congregational Church. McQuaid will present pieces from her albums, including the newest, “If We Dig Any Deeper It Could Get Dangerous.”

Linda Castillo’s latest novel is “Shamed.” When Chief of Police Kate Burkholder arrives on the scene of a brutally murdered Amish grandmother, she learns that the woman’s seven year-old granddaughter is missing. Time is against her, and the killer is leaving more victims in a twisted game of revenge. Notes left at each scene lead Kate to a haunting and tragic secret – a secret that changes everything Kate thought she knew about the family, the Amish community, and her own beliefs. “Shamed” is available on cd as well as digitally in the Virtual Library, RBDigital and the Cloud Library.

Other new fiction books are “The Brides of Big Valley” by Wanda E. Brunstetter, “Toxic Toffee” by Amanda Flower, “Edge of Hell” by William W. Johnstone, “Lady in the Lake” by Laura Lippman, “Temptation’s Darling” by Johanna Lindsey, “One Good Deed” by David Baldacci, “Confound It” by Maggie Toussaint, “The Perfect Wife” by J.P. Delaney and “Hunt the Leopard” by Don Mann. A new young adult title is “Five Feet Apart” by Rachael Lippincott.

“Land of Hope: an Invitation to the Great American Story” by Wilford M. McClay in among new non-fiction books along with “Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom” by David W. Blight and “A Beginner’s Guide to the End: Practical Advice For Living Life and Facing Death” by B.J. Miller.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books “The Unteachables” by Gordon Korman, “The Pumpkin War” by Cathleen Young, and “Honeybees and Frenemies” by Kristi Wientge. A few of the newer easy titles include “Rusty and the River” by Mary Fichtner, “Biscuit Loves the Park” by Alyssa Satin Capucilli, “Space Cows” by Eric Seltzer, and “A Pig, a Fox, and Stinky Socks” by Jonathan Fenske.

“What Shall We Find” is the theme for Storyhour on October 1, 2019. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year. Call 334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story. Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
