Bud Murphy Dies Sunday
Harold F. (Bud) Murphy, 46, of rural Sioux County died at a Scottsbluff Hospital Sunday evening following a lingering illness.
Born February 15, 1923 in Mitchell, Bud received his education in the Valley Schools and graduated from Sioux County High School in 1941.
He married Leona Lee May 24, 1944, in Mitchell. She died in November 1957.
On June 17, 1958, he married June Boone at Mullen, Neb.
Bud had lived in Sioux County all his life where for 27 years he served as a member of the local school board. He was a director of the State High School Rodeo Association and a member of the Nebraska Stockgrowers Association.
He is survived by his wife, June; two sons, Bruce and Douglas; and a daughter Connie Sue; three brothers, Emil Jr., James and Gerald, all of rural Sioux County; two sisters, Lucille Zimmerman of Mitchell and Loretta Deines of Scottsbluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Requiem High Mass was read Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic church in Mitchell with Father Robert Weist officiating. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery. Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Jones Mortuary in Mitchell.
A memorial to the Cancer Fund has been established.
