Emerson Buckley life resident dies

Emerson H. Buckley, 81, Sioux County rancher, died in the Scottsbluff hospital June 10.

Mr. Buckley was born Feb. 14, 1899, at Belmont. He moved to the ranch in Sioux County with his parents in 1907 and made his home there ever since.

Mr. Buckley was a fisherman and played baseball on teams in the Panhandle. He and Lillie Rasmussen were married in Hot Springs September 19, 1932.

Funeral service was Saturday afternoon at the Memorial Methodist Church here with The Rev. Mike S. Nicolson of Mitchell officiating. Organist was Ruth Hall, and Shirley Schaefer and Roberta Shockley sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Red River Valley."

Burial was in the Harrison cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Bannan, Mike Bannan, Jewel Buckley, Ivol Buckley, Dale Buckley and Marvin Buckley, all nephews and great-nephews of the deceased.

Honorary bearers were Milford Brewster, Mitch Britton, Fred Hamaker, Lyle Lewis, Emil Tazdernick, and Clarence Pfeiffer.

A memorial has been established to the Harrison Rescue Unit.

Survivors include his wife Lillie of Harrison, daughters, Edith Mack of Crawford, and Kathy Larson and Dorothy Jordan, both of Lusk; sons Emerson Jr. and Jack and brothers William F. and Carl R., all of Harrison; 16 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Erma Barnes and a grandson Chuckie Mack.
