Fannie May Lincoln Gaukel, 101, passed away November 23, 2015 at the Niobrara Health and Life Center surrounded by her family. She was born on February 1, 1914 to May E. Orton and Joshua M. Lincoln in Jerome, KS. She was the 4th child of 8 children. She lived in Grainfield, KS as a young girl, and moved with her family to Wyoming in 1922. They lived in Jireh, Wyoming where she met and married Emery Gaukel on October 15, 1930. They were married for 60 years, with five children blessing this union. They lived and farmed in the Jireh/Keeline area until 1984 when Emery entered the Niobrara Nursing Home. Fannie continued to live in the Keeline area until she moved to Lusk in 1990. Emery died in June of 1991.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, sewing, fishing and her family. She was active at the Niobrara County Senior Center until she entered into the Niobrara Health and Life Center in 2013. Fannie was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, and 5280 Homemakers Club.

She is preceded in death by her husband Emery, her parents, brothers Leonard, Russell, Floyd, Virgil, James, and William and sister Lorena, one daughter Phyllis Freeman, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Survivors include 4 children, Kenneth (Karen) Gaukel of Keeline, Aileen (Lloyd) Baker of Yorba Linda, Ca, Daniel (Cheryl) Gaukel of Keeline, and Joanne (Richard) McElderry Cheyenne, WY, one sister in law Anna Nelson of Torrington WY, 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

Her grandsons served as Pallbearers. John Freeman, Robert Freeman, Kevin Gaukel, Kurt Gaukel, Mark Baker, Patrick Gaukel, Andrew Gaukel, Dean Gaukel, Brett Frye, Brian Frye and Brandon Frye.

Rosary services were held Friday Nov. 27 2015 at 7:00pm and Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 am on Saturday, Nov. 28. Both services were held at St. Leo's Church in Lusk, Wyoming with Father Drew Duncan officiating. Burial followed at the Lusk cemetery.
