Bertha Dryer dies Thursday

Bertha May Dryer, pioneer resident of Wyoming, died at the Alpine Home at Thornton, Colo., Dec. 8 at the age of 80. She was born March 28, 1896, at Glendo, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eutsler.

The family moved to Manville in 1902 where she attended public schools, graduating with the class of 1911. She took teachers training in Kansas and taught school in several places, her last school was teaching some of her own children near Whitman.

She married Orval J. Dryer on June 25, 1913, and they were in the ranching business in South Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming. They sold their Wyoming ranch home in the 1950s and moved to Manville to retire.

She is survived by her five sons William R. of Thornton, Colo., Donald C., Superior, Orville A. and James H., Casper and Frank W., Moses Lake, Wash.; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Orval in 1970 and all of her brothers and sisters through the years.

Funeral service was held Monday at 2:00 in the Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Chan Bayne officiating.

Mrs. Minerva Watson, organist, accompanied Bari Lee Rumney as she sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Precious Memories."

Casket bearers were Edward Dryer, Donald Dryer, Dennis Dryer, David Dryer, William E. Dryer and Robert Dryer. Burial was in Dell View Cemetery at Manville.
