Arthur Deetjen Killed in Oil Field Accident

Arthur Deetjen, 45, a native of Lusk, was fatally injured in an oil field accident at Albion, Mich. Friday.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Theodore Foster officiating. Mrs. Robert Bramlet, Mrs. James Berry, Harry Lyon and Dr. Richard Collins sang "Beautiful Isle" and "Abide With Me", Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist. Pallbearers were: Mike Kilmer, Wm. Magoon, Jack Magoon, John Fulton, Robert Vollmer and Gene Bass. Burial was in Lusk.

Charles Arthur Deetjen, son of Henry and Emily Deetjen, was born in Lusk July 13, 1915. His childhood was spent on the family homestead north of Lusk. He graduated from Lusk High School where he was active in the athletic program and was also a member of the band. He has been employed in oil field work, working for various companies, starting in the Lance Creek field upon his graduation from high school. He had recently returned from two years spent in South America.

Survivors include his wife and two stepdaughters of Albion; his mother, Mrs. Emily Massie of Lusk; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Brown of Casper, Mrs. Dorothy Kleiber of Upton and Mrs. Lillian Holcomb of Salem, Ore.; and a brother, George Deetjen of Alberta, Canada.
