Funeral Services For Edward DeKay

Funeral services were held last Wednesday morning from United Memorial Methodist Church at Harrison for Edward DeKay who died November 8. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery, and Rev. J. Lee Gorman officiated.

Relatives from out of town who attended the services included:

Mrs. Berniece McKelvey and Lynnet and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald McKelvey and Justin of Denver; Don McKelvey and Christine, Morrill; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie DeKay and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Yates and family of Gering; Clarence Pfeiffer, Scottsbluff; Mr. and Mrs. Ron Herrick, Glenrock, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Serres and Mr. and Mrs. Harold McDowell, Crawford; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin DeKay, Soda Springs, Ida.

Last Rites Held for Edward DeKay


Edward Thomas DeKay, son of Edward DeKay and Emma Fineran DeKay, was born in White Lake, S. D. on April 11, 1903. He died at West Nebraska General Hospital at Scottsbluff on November 8.

He moved to Nebraska in 1910 with his parents to a homestead 10 miles southeast of Harrison. He grew to manhood there and engaged in ranching with his brother until 1940, when his brother moved to Harrison. He continued active ranching until 1954 when due to poor health he moved to town but operated the ranch until his death.

He is survived by one brother Leslie of Gering; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice McKelvey of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Milford Brewster of Harrison; five nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral service conducted November 11 at 10 a.m. at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison by the pastor, Rev. J. Lee Gorman. Mrs. Robert Todd, organist, accompanied a quartet of Mrs. Charles Mumby, Mrs. John Skavdahl, Mrs. Ted King and Mrs. William Renning who sang "Whispering Hope" and "Beyond the Sunset."
