Last Rites Held for Alfred Dieckmann

Funeral services for Alfred Dieckmann, longtime resident of Harrison, were held March 12 at the Lutheran Church in Harrison with military honors executed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Harrison.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Taylor, Joe Whitaker, Morris Engebretsen, Carl Engebretsen, Jim Howard and Laurance Bannan. Honorary pallbearers were Luther Koch, Okley Edgell, Rudy Hartman, William Grote, Alphonsus Donohue, Paul Hotlz and Carl Nelson. Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery.

Mr. Dieckmann died March 8 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Hot Springs, S. Dak., at the age of 77. He was the son of Bertha and Henry Dieckmann, the youngest of 12 children, born at Danbury, Iowa. He came to Harrison at the age of four. He was a World War I veteran and spent many years farming and working for the Chicago and North Western Railroad.
