James W. (Jim) Fagan

At his request, no services are planned for James W. (Jim) Fagan, 76, who died Feb. 12, 2003, in Casper. Cremation has taken place.

A celebration-of-life party will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, 3-7 p.m., in the Parkway Plaza Hotel and Convention Center Tiffany Room. Written stories, anecdotes or remembrances of him may be e-mailed to echer 13 @hotmail.com; mailed to 123 South Kimball, Casper, Wy 82601; or brought to the party.

Born July 13, 1926, in Casper, he was the son of Thomas Mathew and Josephine W. Fagan. He was raised and educated in Lusk, where his father practiced law for many years before his death in 1931.

After graduation from Lusk High School, he attended the University of Wyoming. In his high school and college years, he was an avid participant in many sports and had once considered a coaching career.

After 10 years of study in various venues, he graduated from the UW Law College in 1955. Following in their father's footsteps, he and his older brother Tom attended law school together and then established their private law firm in Casper.

For almost 40 years, they enjoyed a long and often colorful legal practice under the firm name Fagan and Fagan, Attorneys.

He was active in Democratic Party Politics throughout his life and a militant defender of the Bill of Rights.

Survivors include two sons, Page of Spokane, Wash., and Patrick of Eugene, Ore., and a daughter Nora Lynn of Casper.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
