Naomi Lavanche Grant

Services for Naomi Lavanche Grant, 64, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday morning in the Bader-Peet Mortuary in Lusk. Burial will follow in the Jireh Cemetery.

She died Monday, Dec. 21, 1992, at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital of a sudden illness. She was born April 21, 1928, the daughter of John Caleb Bickford and Bertha Evelyn Weaver Stetson, in Chadron, Neb. She was raised and educated in Chadron. She was the oldest of four living children.

She married Perry Jackson in April 1954. After his death in 1965, she moved back to Lusk where she was employed at the Coffee Cup Cafe and the Niobrara County Hospital.

On Feb. 19, 1967, she married Neil Grant on the family ranch in Keeline. On March 2, 1972, she and Neil adopted their two children, Larry and Cheryl.

She worked at the Covered Wagon Motel and as a dispatcher for the Lusk Police Department for a short time. She then had her own business for some time. She was also a full-time housewife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Perry, two sisters, Evelyn and Joann, one nephew, Charles Michon and one niece, Kathy Potter.

Survivors include her husband, Neil of Lusk; one son, Larry of Manville; one daughter, Cheryl of Douglas; two sisters and their husbands, Charles and Bonnie Michon and Betty Lee all of Lincoln, Neb.; one brother, John Caleb Bickford Jr. of Chattsworth, Ga., plus many nieces, nephews and other friends.

For those who wish, memorials to the American Diabetes Association or to the family will be appreciated.
