Lillie Mae Grapes

Lillie Mae Grapes, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1991, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peggy Beardt in Colorado.

Grapes was born Dec. 31, 1908, in Harrison, Neb., the daughter of Irven and Mabel Zimmerman. She was raised on the ranch near Harrison, attended Bodarc School and graduated from Sioux County High School in 1925.

On Feb. 5, 1927, she was married to Gordon Grapes at Torrington, Wyo.

They moved to the Denver area where they were in the grocery business, first representing Piggly Wiggly and later with the A G Stores until their retirement in 1964.

They continued to make their home in Littleton, Colo., until his death on Nov. 28, 1982. She moved to the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Beardt.

She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs in For Morgan, Colo., while her health permitted.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by one sister, Clara Parmely of Harrison; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters; Margaret Kipp and infant Sadie Bell, three brothers; Charley, John and Lawrence Zimmerman and her parents.

Private memorial services were held. She was entombed in Fairmont Mausoleum next to her husband. Memorials may be given to the Lillie Grapes Memorial Fund in care of Jolliffe Mortuary.
