Carl Christian Hansen
Carl Christian Hansen, 85, of Casper, Wyo., passed away at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center on August 31, 2001.
He was born on February 17, 1916 in Lusk, Wyoming, to Anthon Hansen and Gertrude (Larson) Hansen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Missouri Synod and reared in the Lusk/Node area, graduating from Lusk High School with the class of 1934. He married Bertha Demmer on August 22, 1937 and they had two sons, Harold Hansen, and Harry Charles Hansen.
He had a variety of occupations and was a hard-working, versatile individual. He worked as a custodian for the Henry Hotel and was a dishwasher for his aunt's boarding house while in High School.
As an adult, he worked on ranches and farms, in the hardware and furniture business, developed housing areas and was a building contractor and owned and operated a liquor store. They retired in 1967 to travel, spending winters in Desert Hot Springs, California.
He was past President of both the Lions Club and Rotary Club and was a devoted husband and father, working constantly for the future of his loved ones.
His survivors include his wife, Bertha of Casper, Wyo.; one son Harold Hansen of Thermopolis, WY; one brother, Ernest Hansen of Lusk, Wyo., three sisters, Katherine Wood of Casper, Wyo., Marie Golden of Apple Valley, Calif., and Anna Louise Creamer of Albuquerque, New Mex., one grandson Harold Christian "Chris" Hansen of Thermopolis, Wyo., and a granddaughter Shawndee Marie Crawford of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Glen Hansen, and a son, Harry Charles Hansen, who was killed in a car accident in 1960.
Cremation has taken place, and Memorial services will take place at a later date at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Thermopolis, Wyo., and a Christ Lutheran Church in Desert Hot Springs, Calif.
