Emma Goatley Dead at 89

The funeral for Mrs. Emma Goatley, 89, was Tuesday at the Peet Mortuary Chapel. She died Friday night at the Niobrara County Hospital. The Rev. Frank Bozart of the Church of the Open Bible officiated.

Mrs. Frank Bozart, organist, accompanied Tim Johnson who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."

Casket bearers were Danny Mangus, Larry Mangus, Michael James, Dan Mangus, Roy Church and Rick James.

Memorials may be made to the Open Bible Church.

Emma Mae Goatley was born July 3, 1888 At Phillipsburg, Kan., the daughter of Christian and Mary Margaret Miller. The family later moved to Nebraska where Emma met and married William J. Goatley, Burwell, Neb., Sept. 22, 1909. They homesteaded in Nebraska, living there for a number of years before moving to Kansas and later to California, where they both worked in defense plants.

Due to the failing of William Goatley they moved to Wyoming where they lived until their deaths.

She attended the Open Bible Church in Lusk. Her entire life was devoted to her family, loved ones and many friends. She always had a helping hand for those around her in need.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. La Veda Erb, Falls, Nev., Mrs. Margaret Mangus, Rock Springs, and Mrs. Iris Mangus, Lusk. She made her home this past year with Iris. Nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. Two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Potter, Sacramento, Calif. and Mrs. Esther Crees. Curtis, Neb. along with nieces, nephews, and many friends survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, one grandson, three brothers and three sisters.

Interment will be in the Lusk Cemetery.
