Alma Henry, long-time Sioux County resident, died at the age of 85 Sunday, Dec. 14, in the Niobrara County Nursing Home at Lusk.
Alma Leona Henry was born February 24, 1895, the daughter of John C. Eberspecher and Frances Jane Hill who were early homesteaders near Bodarc in North Sioux County.
Alma and Charles Joseph Henry were married July 29, 1913, in Crawford. They were the parents of five children, Mrs. Evan J. Worley (Frances), Lusk, John J. Henry, Cheyenne, Charles D. Henry who died 1954, Henry W. Henry who died in 1971, and Mrs. Charles R. Wise (Rita), Redwood City, Calif.
She was the fifth child of thirteen and is survived by sisters Mrs. Cleve Zimmerman, Mrs. John Parsons and Mrs. Francis Bourret, all of Harrison, two brothers John Eberspecher, Harrison and Ted Eberspecher, Lusk.
Rosary was Tuesday evening at the Church of The Nativity here with the Rev. J. T. Hargarten, officiating. Mass of Resurrection was this Wednesday morning. Shirley Schaefer and Roberta Schockley, accompanied by Louise Serres, sang "In The Garden."
Interment was in the Harrison Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Bourret, Glenrock, Gale Henry, Emery Zimmerman, John Eberspecher, all of Harrison, Dale Jordan, Lusk, and Jerry Eberspecher, Crawford, all of whom are nephews of Alma. Honorary bearers were her three grandsons and three great-grandsons.
"Alma will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Over the years, she was Mom or Grandma Henry to may more than just her own. The happiest times in her life were when she had lots of people to cook for; springtime, when she could get out to the garden; and anytime playing cards with her friends and relatives," said the family.
Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, her sister Hilda and brothers Henry, Tom, Chris, and Frank. Two brothers, John and Charlie died in infancy. Alma is also survived by six grandchildren: Mrs. Richard Price, Lusk, Philip Henry, Harrison, Paul Henry, Cheyenne, Robert Babcock and Janet Babcock, Menlo Park, Calif., Mrs. Kent Heyne, Laramie, and three great-grandsons: Timothy, Richard and Thomas Price, Lusk, her daughters-in-law, Mrs. Glenn Fitch and Mrs. John Henry and sons-in-law, Evan Worley and Charles Wise and numerous nephew and nieces.
Memorials have been designated to the Harrison Ambulance Fund or Niobrara County Nursing Home.
