Jacob Henry Came Here in Covered Wagon

Jacob Henry, born in Germany in 1837, and Barbara Friese, born in Germany in 1847, came with their families to settle in Wisconsin when they were small children and were married Feb. 2, 1868, and in 1878 moved with their five children to Platte County, Neb., where two more children were born.

In 1887 Jacob came by covered wagon to homestead on Squaw Creek north of the railroad, bringing the family possessions and livestock. In the fall Mrs. Henry and children arrived by train, and the family gradually obtained other land. Mr. Henry died in November 1918 and Mrs. Henry in February 1930. Both are buried at Montrose.

Their children were: Katherine (Katie) who married Ben Hummel; Jake married Mary Nutto; Anna married John McMahon; John married Nora O'Connell; Henry, died at age 28 not married; Charles married Alma Henry, living at Harrison; Elizabeth married Cornelius Jordan. Mrs. Jordan 93, owns Jordan Hotel in Harrison
