Gordon Edward Hoblit

Gordon Edward Hoblit was born Jan. 16, 1908 at Brocksburg, Nebr., the son of Melvin and Mary Ann Hoblit. He died Dec. 19, 1983 at Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk.

His early years were spent on the family farm near Brocksburg before joining the U.S. Navy. In 1926, he came to Wyoming where he was employed by the Marathon Oil Co. at Lance Creek and McFadden. During World War II he joined the Merchant Marine, traveling to all parts of the world, before returning to Wyoming in 1957.

He then began ranching near Lusk, with his brother, the late James Hoblit. He continued the ranching operation until his retirement in the mid 70's.

On Sept. 14, 1962, he was married to Annabelle Lore Hoblit at Alliance, Nebr. They were still living on the ranch at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, one sister, Geraldine Smith, one brother, Graydon (Bud) Hoblit, all of Lusk, and many nieces and nephews.

Services were at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk Dec. 23, 1983 with Rev. Roy Howell officiating.

Music was by Elizabeth Craske, organist and Mark Lohr sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art".

Cremation followed.

Memorials may be made to Niobrara County Historical Society.

Arrangements were by Peet Mortuary.
