Memorial services for Bertha L. Hoge, age 93, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2001 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Lorenz Heller and George Allen co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington. She died on May 26, 2001 and cremation has already taken place. Those who wish, may make memorial contributions in her honor to the Goshen Care Center in Torrington.

She was born January 31, 1908 in Bonesteel, S.D., the daughter of Earl and Hattie (Potter) Freeman. She grew up and attended school in South Dakota. The family then moved to the Hat Creek area where she continued her education. She married Harry L. Wampler on November 10, 1926 in Lusk. The couple raised their family in the Hat Creek area and Mr. Wampler later died. On June 13, 1955 Bertha married Walter Hoge in Rapid City, S.D. They lived at Lost Springs on the Otto Bible ranch. They eventually moved to Keeline. In 1962 they moved to Torrington, where she worked for a short time in the Oregon Trail Motel.

She was a member of the Revised Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by her husband, Walter; a daughter Mary Ellen Gorsuch and her husband Paul of Torrington; a son Ernest Wampler and his wife Flicka of Jackson; two sisters Dorothy Lang of Ft. Lupton, Colo.; and Hazel Bunge and her husband Dean of Harrison, Neb.; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Harry L. Wampler; a son Harry LeRoy Wampler; one brother Ray Freeman; and one sister Clara Sperling.

The Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington is in charge of the arrangements.
