James Stanley Hoy

James Stanley Hoy, 96, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1987 at Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home.

Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Mark Lohr officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Hoy was born Dec. 14, 1890, in Huron, SD, the son of Harley and Katherine Hoy. They moved to Sioux City, IA in 1895, where he attended school. Later they moved to Springdale, AR. He graduated from Roger's Academy in Rogers, AR, in 1911.

On July 25, 1912, he married Josie Pollack in Rogers. They lived there until 1916, when they moved to a homestead in northern Goshen County, where they lived for 30 years. In 1946 they moved to Lusk and operated the Lusk Cold Storage Plant until 1952, when they moved to a place north of Lusk. In 1971, they retired to a home in Torrington.

Mr. Hoy was preceded in death by his wife Josie; two sons, Raymond and Eugene; one daughter, Helen; a brother, Waldo; a sister, Dora Spiegel, and his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Edward of Torrington and Don of Morrison, CO; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials to the nursing home in Lusk will be appreciated by the family.
